For almost 30 years, St Nicks has celebrated the changing of the seasons with their Autumn Fayre.

Originally called “Apple Day”, the fayre brings around 600 people to St Nicks Local Nature Reserve in Tang Hall for a joyful afternoon of live music, community stalls, food and drink, woodland activities, apple pressing, and more.

Back in the 1990s, St Nicks set out with an ambitious vision for York, and the charity has transformed their former landfill site into a thriving nature reserve and centre for green living.

Many of the apple trees on the reserve have grown from pips discarded at the tip – these apples are safe to eat and a natural emblem of St Nicks. At the Autumn Fayre, the apples are used to make juice and chutneys and celebrate nature’s harvest.

“The best apple juice you’ll ever taste!”

The season of mists and mellow fruitfulness is one of York’s finest, and what better way to welcome it than with a cup of freshly pressed local apple juice? Urban harvesting group Abundance York will be at the fayre once again, and attendees young and old can get involved in the apple pressing.

St Nicks’ Autumn Fayre is a free community-led event, and preparations are underway for the best yet – so save the date and spread the word by inviting along your family and friends. It will be filled to the brim with good vibes and cosy Autumn cheer!

Sponsors for the 2025 St Nicks Autumn Fayre so far include Roundworks, Honeyboot and Lemon, The Bath House and P.J. Clifton Financial Services.
