Applications are open for ward funding for local projects with a closing date for all applications of 31 May 2026.

 
Who can apply

Projects must support your ward priorities which can be found on the ward website page. These priorities link directly to One City, for all the Council plan 2023 – 2027.

  • Organisations based in the ward and providing services in the ward which help to achieve the ward priorities.
  • Organisations will be from the voluntary sector, community initiatives, residents’ associations, community halls, sports and other clubs. They must be constituted and hold a bank account or have a sponsor organisation that can hold funds on their behalf.
  • Parish councils may apply where they can commit a financial stake in supporting a project.
  • Applications can be made to more than one ward provided there are identifiable needs/outcomes for the ward areas you apply to.

If you would like to apply, or if you are aware of a community project or initiative that could benefit from ward funding, please complete the application form, returning with the necessary evidence to: [email protected]

Alternatively you can apply online using the council website webform: https://www.york.gov.uk/WardGrantApplications#apply

PLEASE NOTE: If you are applying online, it is advisable to compose the application prior to completing the online form and cut and paste the information required, as the form will time out after 10 minutes and cannot be saved.

Funding applications will be considered in June, and successful applicants will be informed after the 15 June and funding released imminently after.

How much can be applied for?

There may be a limit on how much you can apply for in your particular ward. You should contact your Community Officer responsible for the ward to establish what these limits are.
