Last Friday we welcomed Shadow Minister for the Voluntary Sector and Charities, Rachael Maskell MP, to meet with the York Volunteers Team and a small group of local charities and projects and their volunteers in the courtyard at the Priory Street Centre.

It was a great opportunity to celebrate the amazing work and important role of volunteers, and to hear their experiences of volunteering in York. We discussed the vital work that local projects have been doing to support the needs of people in York, exciting new plans, how we can build trust toward the voluntary sector to encourage future partnerships, and how we can work together to advocate for the voluntary sector at a governmental level.

Though today is the last day of Volunteers’ Week for another year, York CVS will continue to support volunteers and the VCSE sector throughout the year. Visit our Volunteer Centre webpage to find out more.
8 people, 6 female and 2 male, stood spaced apart in a courtyard area. There is a raised brick cirucular fountain in the middle and brick wall with large windows behind them. Everyone is smiling and looking at the camera.
