Census 2021 is coming very soon. From 1 March until 4 May everyone in England will be asked to complete the Census, based on where they are on Census Day, 21 March. Support is available from York CVS and Explore York for anyone who is unable to complete the Census online themselves.
We held an information session on 24 February to provide more information about the support available. We welcomed Julian Cole from the Office for National Statistics to provide an introduction and overview to the Census. We were also joined by representatives from Explore York and York CVS who provided more details about the support available within York. You can download the presentations and watch the session in full below.
More about the Census
The Census is a unique survey that takes place every 10 years in England and Wales. By taking part you help make the decisions that shape our community. What we learn from the Census informs spending on public services, things like healthcare, schools and colleges, and transport. To make sure these decisions are right for our community, it is vital that everyone in the community completes the Census.
Census 2021 is digital-first. This is the first time that the Office for National Statistics plan to run the Census mainly online. They have a target to achieve a 75% online return rate.
