In November, the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) and the Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations (ACEVO) published an open letter to the chancellor calling for urgent action on the planned increase to employer National Insurance Contributions (NICs) for the voluntary sector. They estimate that the increased cost for the sector will be £1.4bn at a time of already increased funding pressures for the sector.
The letter was co-signed by more than 7,300 charities and voluntary organisations and the Chancellor has now replied following the October budget announcement.
In relation to the outcome NCVO states: ‘Although the news isn’t quite what we hoped for, we remain committed to raising your voice so that the government understands the very real impact of these changes’.
