Facing unprecedented financial pressures, the council must close an approximate £30 million budget gap while continuing to deliver essential services for York’s residents. To address this challenge, they have taken a staged approach to consultation, ensuring that the views of partners, businesses, and residents are at the heart of their decisions.

Since May 2024, feedback has been gathered through workshops, surveys, and other forums to understand the priorities of the York community and to assess the impact of potential budget measures. This collaborative approach has been able to inform the latest budget proposals, which the council are now asking the public to help them review during this final stage of consultation.

They want to hear your views on how we can continue to work together, identify opportunities for efficiencies, and maintain key services that matter most to residents and businesses.

The second budget consultation runs to Wednesday, 1 January 2025, 11.59pm.
