For 25 years, Family Matters York has been quietly strengthening the foundations of family life across the city and surrounding area. As a small charity, their work focuses on empowering couples and parents through free courses, events and mentoring support – all designed to help people build confidence, improve communication, and navigate the challenges of family relationships.
At the heart of their work is a simple message: you are not alone. Whether it’s managing conflict, parenting with greater confidence, or reconnecting as a couple, Family Matters York provides practical, relational tools to help families flourish.
This year, the charity has a lot to celebrate.
They have been awarded a grant from The National Lottery Community Fund, a significant boost that will help them continue offering vital support at no cost to the families who need it. As part of their funding journey, they’ve also made use of York CVS’s Funding and Development support to explore opportunities for long-term sustainability.
They are also honoured to be one of the Lord Mayor of York and Sheriff of York’s chosen charities for 2025–26, offering new opportunities to raise awareness and funds through civic events.
And of course, 2026 marks 25 years of Family Matters York.
To celebrate this milestone, the charity is inviting friends, families, supporters and new faces to join them for a Ceilidh – a joyful evening of dancing, cake, conversation and connection. The celebration takes place on Saturday 7 March at The Gateway Centre, Acomb, from 6.30pm to 9.00pm.
All are welcome.
