Do you want to green up your local area?
Growing Green Spaces grants are available for small community projects or events in publicly accessible spaces.
Grants of up to £3,000 are available for both new and existing projects. You provide the idea and we’ll help you make it a success. We can help you find out how to get permission, get other people on board, and give you growing advice to get started.
You could turn a neglected space in your area into a community garden, create a place to gather in your local park, sow wildflowers on a verge, start a community orchard or vegetable patch, or organise insect hotel or den-building events. For more ideas, have a look at our current projects and previous projects.
Grants are open to community groups and charities, but if you are an individual who wants to apply, please get in touch with the Growing Green Spaces Co-ordinator, Stef Lambert, and she can advise on how you can link up with an existing group or residents’ association.
Send short project pitches (around 150 words) to growinggreenspaces@yorkcvs.org.uk by midnight on Sunday 21 March 2021.
Successful applicants will be invited to supply a few more details by filling out a short form. Grants will be awarded by 12 April 2021.
If you are interested in applying, please feel free to get in touch with Stef, who will be pleased to help with your application. If you are applying for Growing Green Spaces funding as part of a larger project that requires funding above £3,000, Stef is happy to advise. You might find this list of other sources of funding that can support green space volunteering projects useful.
