Job Title: General Catering Assistant
Location: Bedern Hall, York
Hours: Approx. Basic 18 hours per week with additional hours by agreement/as required (flexible, including weekends and occasional evenings)
About the Role
We are looking for a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic General Assistant to join our small, dedicated team at Bedern Hall, a unique and historic venue in the heart of York. This varied role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a hospitality environment and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
• Preparation of food for light buffets and afternoon teas
• Setting up tables and ensuring presentation standards are maintained
• Serving customers in our café
• Supporting service delivery at private functions and events
• Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards across all areas
• Assisting with general day-to-day operations as required
About You
• Previous experience in a hospitality or catering role is desirable
• Food Hygiene certification is preferred (training can be provided if needed)
• A positive, flexible attitude with a willingness to help where needed
• Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work in a small, committed team
• Good communication skills and a friendly, customer-focused approach
• Reliable and well-organised with attention to detail
