[content warning: suicide prevention]
We’d like to invite you to attend a public film screening and panel discussion Q&A of York Ending Stigma’s (YES) suicide prevention documentary film ‘WHY’. The film is part of the York Ending Stigma – Let’s talk #SuicidePrevention campaign which includes a dedicated website and a suicide prevention conversation resource. The in-person Film Screening and Q&A Events take place on:
- Tuesday 11 October 1.15pm – 2.30pm (York Explore Library)
- Wednesday 12 October 5.45pm – 7.15pm (YSJ University)
Please note: Both screenings will be subtitled and tickets are free.
Please share this information with your networks so that we can get as many people as possible to see our film and engage with our Let’s talk #SuicidePrevention campaign, so that hopefully we can prevent suicides and save lives, thank you.
About the campaign:
Six YES Champions share, via the ‘WHY’ documentary, their personal experiences of living with suicidal thoughts and the things that help to keep them as well as possible. The aim is to reduce the stigma of experiencing suicidal thoughts and to encourage more positive conversations and actions to prevent suicides.
Feedback for WHY from our private test screenings:
“I can’t even put into words how absolutely amazing your film is. It is clear how much time, effort, compassion and bravery has gone into making such an important film. I genuinely believe that it should be shown in every workplace across the UK and schools.”
“The film is honestly one of the best things I have seen. I can’t thank you and your champions enough for making it. From someone who struggles with mental health you have made me feel it’s ok to be me and that everyone has days when it’s too much. I think it will help all sorts of people as it is shared and talked about. You have worked so hard on this, and it has been a privilege to see it today.”
