Members of York CVS’ staff team have come together to spread messages of hope across the city with the aim of lighting up lockdown.

The team are delivering decorated lights in jam jars and lanterns, with handwritten message of hope, across the city to show that people are not alone during lockdown.

The project has been made possible thanks to generous donations from local residents, Dilly Dally UK and the Chilli Jam Man. Any donations of jam jars or any lights will be gratefully received and can be dropped off at the Priory Street Centre.

Christine Marmion-Lennon, Ways to Wellbeing Manager:

“This is a really tough time for so many people so we want to share messages of hope and to make people smile. We’ve been so grateful for the generous donations we’ve received so far and we really hope that together we can light up lockdown. We’re encouraging everyone who wants to be involved to light up their windows and to share their photos on social media using #Yorklightuplockdown.”
