Different coloured stars with the words Get Involved in the middle. A small banner reads #VolunteersWeek

It’s Volunteers’ Week (1 – 7 June) and an opportunity to say the biggest THANK YOU to all our volunteers and to recognise and celebrate the invaluable contribution they make across our city!

In this short video, we’ve joined voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations across York to say thank you to our city’s Volunteers.

Get involved!

Pledge your organisation’s support to create the best volunteering experiences for Volunteers in York…

This national event comes at a crucial time after charities and voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations have experienced a dramatic decrease in people volunteering since the height of the pandemic.

To support and increase volunteering across our city, York Volunteers, part of York CVS has collaborated with leaders and Volunteers from charities, community groups and social enterprises to see how they could work better together to make volunteering even better in the city, and to encourage more people to get involved. As a result, a Citywide Volunteering Strategy for York has been co-produced and was launched at part of The Big Help Out on 8 March.

Sign York Citywide Volunteering Pledge

As part of the Strategy launch and Volunteers’ Week, we’re asking all organisations who involve volunteers to sign the York Citywide Volunteering Pledge. The pledge shows your organisation’s commitment to aspire to achieve the principles set out below. Your organisation doesn’t have to have all the principles in place now, but by signing the pledge you are showing your dedication to contributing towards a thriving culture of Volunteering in York. You’ll also receive an electronic badge to show that you’ve signed the pledge!
