Small Charity Week (24 – 28 June) celebrates and raises awareness of the essential work of the UK’s small charity sector, which makes an invaluable contribution to the lives of millions of individuals, communities, and causes across the UK and the rest of the world.
During the week there will be a number of events happening alongside a social media campaign to share and highlight the important work of small charities.
Share your story
Gather up some ideas from the list below to showcase your organisation during Small Charity Week. Tag #SmallCharityWeek to have your story re-shared and help to amplify your charity’s voice!

Here are some ideas for the type of content you can share:
- Photo or video of a staff member explaining what they do and how they help your community
- Photo or video of a staff member / end user explaining why they love your organisation
- Photo or video of a volunteer explaining why they started volunteering with you
- Images of community members taking part in your services
- Statistics about the impact your charity has. For example, how many people you helped last year.
Suggested actions and activities
As well as sharing content via your social media channels there are other ways to make an impact and create awareness to your organisation:
- Contact your local MP and Councillors – the Small Charity Week Resource Pack (slide 18) includes a template letter and ideas for contacting them.
- Run an event – This is a great way to celebrate the work of your organisation. Download the Small Charity Week Resource Pack (slide 19) for some top considerations.
- Contact local media – This Small Charity Week, reach out to local media to share your story and invite them to an event if you’re running one. For templates and more, click here (slide 20).
- Partner with a local business – Use Small Charity Week as an opportunity to build corporate relationships by inviting them to an event, asking for sponsorship, or a knowledge exchange. See slide 21 for more information.
Sign up to the small charity week events
Throughout Small Charity Week, NCVO will be running a programme of online and in-person events to help small charities with some of their most pressing concerns. These events include:
- 30-minute mentoring, an NCVO member-only event partnering smaller charities with a larger charity to discuss a current problem
- online webinars to help you form successful partnerships with corporates and local authorities, and to respond to opposition
- a panel Q&A focusing on digital and technology
- an in-person conference, an NCVO member-invite-only event, focused on the role of AI in our sector.
