It’s the fourth day of Small Charity Week and today is ‘Learning Day’. The focus of today centres on communications and fundraising learning so, we’ve shared some great national and local resources with you in this blog post. Hopefully you’ve also been able to attend some of the events taking place this week as part of Small Charity Week, but don’t worry if you’ve missed them, all the recordings and information will be shared on the Small Charity Week website.      

Funding and development support for your organisation 

Here at York CVS we have a dedicated Funding and Development Officer who can provide free one-to-one support and guidance to your organisation. Whether you need support with safeguarding information, identifying or developing policies and procedures, or support getting an idea off the ground and finding funding, we’re here to help!  

We can support you to identify funding sources and develop funding bids and our dedicated Grants webpage has links to lots of local and national funding sources as well as information about the funds we manage here at York CVS.

Two Ridings Community Foundation 

As well as a great source to find local funds, Two Ridings Community Foundation also host monthly drop-ins so you can find out more about new funds and meet with other VCSE organisations. The next drop-in is on the 4 July.  

Charity Digital  

Charity Digital has full webpage dedicated to Digital Fundraising designed to ‘gives charities all the tools they need to launch  
an effective and fruitful fundraising campaign, with plenty of content on the latest tech, latest tools, latest trends, the latest ideas, and more’. It also publishes lots of communications-related guidance, including:  

National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) 

NCVO has a webpage dedicated to supporting small VCSE organisations with funding and income. Information includes guidance on getting ready to submit a funding bid, fundraising methods, funding and income planning and how to find grants. 

Media Trust 

The Media Trust’s Resource Hub contains lots of articles, case studies, videos and information to support your communications, including:

Charity Comms is a membership network for communications professionals. It has some great articles which can be accessed without membership, including:  

Free health and wellbeing training for staff and volunteers 

Did you know that VCSE staff and volunteers working in health and care across Humber and North Yorkshire can access free training from Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership? Focusing on health and wellbeing, the training and information sessions cover a wide range of topics such as managing menopause, techniques to manage stress and financial guidance.
