It’s Volunteers’ Week 2025! We’re joinining thousands of charitable organisations in recognising and celebrating the contribution volunteers make here in York and across the UK.
Running every year for over 20 years, Volunteers’ Week provides an opportunity to thank volunteers and recognise the value of their time, passion and skills. The campaign also highlights the diversity and unity of volunteer work across the UK.
This week (and every week) we’ll be sharing the latest volunteering opportunities here in York. We’ll also be sharing more information about how our Volunteer Centre team can support your voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisation with everything volunteer management!
Meet our Volunteer Centre Manager, Jonny!
Hi, I’m Jonny,
The Volunteer Centre Manager at York CVS, and I’ve been passionate about the charity sector for over a decade. My journey started at just 14 years old, volunteering at my local youth club. From there, I pursued a degree in counselling, while giving time to a local charity shop and Door 84 youth club, where I became a youth worker.
Volunteering shaped my path, leading me to York Mind, where I spent five years in advocacy, helping people have their voices heard while supporting volunteers.
When COVID hit, I saw the incredible impact volunteers had on the community, especially in supporting vaccination efforts. Inspired, I joined York CVS as a Volunteer Centre Coordinator, where I’ve spent the last three years, now managing the Volunteer Centre and helping people like you find meaningful ways to get involved.
There’s never been a better time to volunteer—your time and effort keep the sector thriving, and organisations across York need your support.
