Partners in Dementia is a small not-for-profit social enterprise supporting unpaid carers and people living with dementia in the York area, funded through the National Lottery Community Fund (2025–28). Our work centres on supporting carers through Breath Body Mind courses plus Cognitive Rehabilitation and a social farm for people living with dementia.

We bring people together in welcoming spaces, from stress management courses to outdoor activities, to help them feel calmer, more confident and better equipped in their roles and lives. We’re a friendly team with room to grow, learn and try new things together.

When are volunteers needed: Hours are flexible - it could be up to 1 day per week or a few hours (for example, some hours on Thursdays), but we can tailor this to fit your schedule.

Role description:
We’re looking for a creative, enthusiastic Marketing & Communications Volunteer to help raise awareness of our services, share project stories, and support our broader engagement with carers, people living with dementia, local partners, and our community.

This role is ideal for someone who wants practical experience, enjoys making things look and feel great, and thrives in a role where they can shape their own learning and impact. Whether you’re studying, re-entering the workforce, or simply have some extra time and passion for meaningful community work.

Key Responsibilities:

You’ll work with the team to:
Support and develop content for social media (Instagram, Facebook, newsletter)
Create images, short videos and graphics that tell our project stories
Help write clear, engaging content for blogs, updates and newsletters
Attend events/activities to capture content and build presence
Connect with local partners, networks and community groups
We’re flexible, so this role can grow with your interests and skills.

Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
We’d love it if you:

Have an interest in communications, creativity and storytelling
Are confident with social media platforms (or excited to learn)
Enjoy taking photos, editing short videos or designing posts
Can write clearly and with warmth
Are organised and reliable
Work well independently and as part of a small, friendly team
Care about our mission to support carers and people living with dementia

Not all of this is required - the most important thing is a positive energy and a willingness to learn.
