On Tuesday 15 July, Jo Coles, Deputy Mayor for Policing Fire and Crime will host a special road safety-focused online public meeting alongside North Yorkshire Police, as part of the region’s first Road Safety Month.

The meeting with North Yorkshire Police will focus specifically on prevention & enforcement, and include a presentation on behalf of the York and North Yorkshire Road Safety Partnership.

Starting at 2.00pm, the meeting will conclude with a dedicated question and answer session, where questions raised by the public will be presented to North Yorkshire Police by Deputy Mayor Jo Coles.

Mayor David Skaith and the Deputy Mayor are spending July engaging with the public on the issue of road safety. Deputy Mayor Jo Coles has already met with local Parish Councils through dedicated Road Safety Advice Surgeries to hear their concerns on road safety issues.

Questions relating to road safety are encouraged, but those relating to any area of police and crime are welcome and should be submitted using the online form on our website: https://www.northyorkshire-pfcc.gov.uk/YourVoice/

The purpose of these regular online public meetings is to hold both services to account for their delivery of the Mayor David Skaith’s Police and Crime Plan and Fire and Rescue Plan, to ensure they are achieving the objectives, set through public consultation and generating positive outcomes.

Jo Coles, Deputy Mayor for Policing, Fire and Crime says: “Online Public Meetings are invaluable in ensuring the Police and Fire Services are held to account in an open and transparent way.

“Road Safety Month is an opportunity for the Mayor David Skaith and I to hear from stakeholders and the public about how we can increase safety on our roads for all road users because one death on our roads is one death too many. Anyone with questions or concerns can submit them via the link or tune in to watch the meeting online. I will continue to do everything I can to keep everyone in our region safe.”
