The Island group’s service will link children and young people actively engaged in The Islands mentoring programme with structured group support. These programmes offer both pastoral and practical support within a peer-based environment, including youth groups and peer support groups.
Working closely with the Family and Groups Coordinator, you will contribute to the development and delivery of The Islands’ expanding group programmes, providing wellbeing-focused, creative and physical activities for cohorts of young people involved in mentoring.
The role involves co‑facilitating youth group sessions and supporting the delivery of engaging activities for children and young people within The Island’s mentoring programme, while managing on‑the‑day session logistics to ensure sessions run smoothly. The postholder will be responsible for safeguarding the safety and wellbeing of all participants by following The Island’s policies and procedures, and for completing all required session paperwork, including session records and safeguarding concern forms. Working directly with children and young people, the role supports the development of social skills through a compassionate, supportive and youth‑centred approach. The postholder will bring positive energy and enthusiasm to build strong relationships with young people, their families and the wider Island team, work flexibly and inclusively to meet the needs of the young people they will support.
The post must attend a monthly one‑to‑one supervision session with their line manager.
